Bhanwari Devi case trial deferred till May 14

Bhanwari Devi case trial deferred till May 14
Jodhpur: The trial of the sensational Bhanwari Devi abduction and murder case had to be deferred today to May 14 due to the absence of the magistrate hearing the case.

Due to the absence of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate ACJM (SC/ST Cases), who is holding the trial of the murder of nurse Bhanwari Devi, all the 16 accused, including former Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna and Congress MLA Malkhan Singh, were produced before a Fast Track Court.

The Fast Track Court adjourned the trial till May 14.

The trial was earlier scheduled to begin from May 2, but when Maderna and Bishnoi did not appear in the court citing ill health, it was deferred till May 5.

Bhanwari Devi, a trained midwife and nurse, went missing in September last year and the remains of her body were discovered by the CBI four months later.
