Assam couple eagerly await solar eclipse

Assam couple eagerly await solar eclipse
Guwahati:

While most of us save up to buy a car or house, Assam-based Dr Probir Dey and his wife Tapati Dey invested in a telescope. And their six-inch telescope is the largest amateur astronomical telescope.

Their laboratory, named after Galileo, is in Sonari near Sibsagar -- the medieval capital town of the Ahom Kingdom.

"It is not our hobby, it is our life, our passion," said Dr Probir and Tapati Dey.

Tapati and Probir Dey have been stargazing since the last 20 years, but Wednesday's solar spectacle is something they can hardly wait for.

"This is the longest total eclipse of the 21st century. That is why it is so special," said Tapati Dey.

On Wednesday, at sunrise, the sky will undergo a dramatic change -- a spectacle the entire world is waiting for.
