New Delhi:
Anna Hazare will hold a one-day protest rally for the Jan Lokpal Bill at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on December 11. Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal told NDTV that they will hold the one-day rally on December 11, adding that they have not decided on a longer protest from December 27, but all options are open
Earlier, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) denied giving permission to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare to hold a protest at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan from December 27. Team Anna member Manish Sisodia had said on Sunday that the MCD had given permission to hold the rally, subject to permission from the Delhi Police.
"They have sought permission from January 1 to January 15. But the ground (Ramlila Maidan) has been already booked for three days by somebody else. We can't cancel that. Tomorrow they may apply with changed schedule from December 27 to January 5. If they come with the NoC of delhi Police, MCD will consider. No permission has been given to them," said Yogender Chandolia, current standing committee chairman of the MCD.
Mr Hazare had announced that he would relaunch his agitation if Parliament failed to pass the Lokpal Bill.
"It all depends on the Standing Committee's proposals. Anna is planning to sit on a protest in Jantar Mantar on December 11 depending on the Standing Committee's recommendations," a senior Team Anna member said.
The Parliamentary panel on Lokpal Bill is likely to submit its report before December seven. Team Anna has been insisting that the lower bureaucracy, higher judiciary, provisions for Citizen's Charter and setting up of Lokayuktas at the state level be brought under the ambit of the Bill.
