Five people died and several others were injured as a speeding bus rammed into a crowd at a roadside dance event in Bihar's Bettiah.
The horrific accident occurred late last night near Parau Tola Bankatwa, near the city. To avoid a collision with a truck, the bus rammed the 'orchestra' performance.
Many of those hit by the vehicle are in critical condition.
The program was being held to celebrate the birth of a child. The child's father is one of those who died in the accident.
The bus was coming from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and heading to Bettiah.
Bahadur Mahato, Sanjay Kumar, Bhola Dubey, Devendra Dubey (the child's father), and Changur Ram died in the accident.
The injured were rushed to the government hospital in Bettiah.
The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.
