2G scam accused Karim Morani allocated a 'cooler, less dusty' prison cell
New Delhi: Cineyug Films Director Karim Morani, arrested for his alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam and lodged in Tihar Jail, was today ordered by a special court to be put in a "cooler and less dusty" prison due to his frail health.

"Considering his (Morani) medical condition, Jail Superintendent is directed that he may be placed in a cell which is less dusty and comparatively cooler. Superintendent is directed to do the needful," said Special Judge O P Saini.

Senior Counsel Sidharth Luthra, appearing for Morani, said his client is suffering from heart ailment and other medical problems. He added Morani is facing problems due to dust in the jail and asked for him to be shifted in a cell which is less dusty and cooler than his present prison cell.

Meanwhile, Morani also filed an application seeking permission to sign documents pertaining to mutual funds and other bank documents. The court took Morani's plea on records and asked the CBI to respond to it on May 9.

Morani is lodged in jail since May 30 along with 13 other accused in the 2G scam including former Telecom minister A Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa.

Morani was arrested after the court rejected its bail on the grounds that there was enough evidence against him in the 2G scam case and that he could influence the case if granted bail.

CBI had, in its second charge sheet in the 2G case, alleged Swan Telecom and Dynamix Realty Promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka channeled Rs 200 crore to the DMK family-run Kalaignar TV, through Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd and Morani's Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd.
