The government has exceeded its target of opening 7 crore bank accounts under the flagship scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana' by successfully opening 11 crore bank accounts before time, Prime Minister Modi said while addressing a rally in Delhi on Saturday.
"We had to open seven crore bank accounts by January 26, but I feel proud in saying that around 11 crore people have opened bank accounts till Jan 10 under the Jan Dhan Yojana," PM Modi said
Over 19.5 lakh bank accounts have been opened in Delhi since the launch of the government's flagship financial inclusion scheme on August 28, he said.
