At around 4 pm, Ramchandra Maurya, a former legislator from Mirzapur, and another person were driving past the Crowne Plaza Hotel along in Gurgaon's Sector 29 when the incident occurred.

Police say a man driving a Corolla and pretending to be a policeman approached the two and started questioning them. The man shot at them when they lowered their car window and snatched a gold ring, bracelet and around 45,000 rupees, police said.
