Dishonour killing: Eighteen-year-old girl shot by brothers for eloping
Kaushambi: The shame of dishonour killings continues as a fresh case of a girl being killed by her family in the National Capital Region has come to light.

The victim, Meena, an eighteen-year-old girl was shot dead by her own brothers for eloping in the Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad, just outside Delhi.

Meena had been missing since February 10. Her family feared that she had fled with her lover. A few days later, when she returned home, her brothers reprimanded her for leaving home without informing anyone.

After a heated conversation, they pulled out a country- made pistol and shot her.

The girl's brothers are on the run and the police is on their lookout.

The incident comes just four days after a 24-year-old Muslim girl, Fauzia, was allegedly killed by her parents in Agra after they discovered that she was having an affair with Sonu, who was a Hindu. (Read: Agra girl killed, lover commits suicide)

When Sonu learnt of her death, he was devastated and a day later, shot himself dead in the middle of a busy market.
