Mumbai: Actress Sonam Kapoor said that language should not curb an actor's enthusiasm and that she is open to doing Russian, Chinese or French films if the script and her character is good.

At a special screening of the Punjabi film Chauthi Koot, Sonam was asked if she would do a Punjabi film, and said, "I don't know the language; I do understand it. I understand Sindhi and Hindi more, but why not? I don't think, as an actor, a language should curb your enthusiasm."

"If I like the story and if it is Punjabi, Chinese, Hindi, Marathi, Russian, French or any language, I will do it if I like the character," she added.

Sonam's contemporaries like actresses Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone are currently doing films in Hollywood. Films in Russian or Chinese or French have not been tried often by Indian actors.

The only one in recent times that can be considered is Sonu Sood and Amyra Dastur working with superstar Jackie Chan in Kung Fu Yoga.

About Chauthi Koot, Sonam said: "It is a very beautiful film and I cried profusely watching the film and after 40 minutes of the film, my tears didn't stop. It's sensitively made and directed beautifully; I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to watch the film. I request people to watch the film in the theatres."

"I have shot numerous films in Punjab and they have captured the essence of Punjab in the 1980s very beautifully. It is a very moving film," said Sonam.

Sonam is will next be seen in the film Veere Di Wedding.
