  • They celebrated Eid together in July
  • Malaika and Arbaaz separated in March this year
New Delhi: In March, celebrity couple Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan issued a joint statement saying they were separated - a friend later claimed that the statement was released without Malaika's consent but cast no doubt on the truth of the stated separation. Now, some five months later, Arbaaz Khan is reconfirming that they are, indeed, separated.

A report in Mumbai Mirror quotes the actor-producer as saying, "At this point of time we are not together, we are separated, and that's about it."

The need for verification seems to have arisen from pictures of Arbaaz and Malaika celebrating Eid with the Khans, posted on their social media accounts in July.

Tabloid reports were hopeful of a reconciliation but it appears to have simply been wishful thinking.

After Eid, Malaika and son Arhaan were pictured on holiday in the Maldives, while Arbaaz was photographed in Goa with a woman later identified as local entrepreneur and model Yellow Mehra.

"Yes, it's true that we are separated," read the ostensibly joint statement released in March to DNA, "We are taking out time to figure out our lives." It also called for privacy, saying that speculation about the state of the couple's marriage was 'confusing and disturbing' for their families.

Malaika Arora, 42, and Arbaaz Khan, 48, married in 1998. Malaika has appeared in several films, like Dabangg, made by her husband and brother-in-law Salman Khan.
