Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is already creating a strong buzz at the box office. The Yash-starrer has recorded an impressive response in advance bookings. The pre-release numbers have further fuelled expectations around the film's opening, with audiences showing strong interest in the action-packed gangster drama.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Toxic has sold over 9 lakh tickets across nearly 17,780 shows, generating a gross of ₹32.21 crore ahead of its release. Including blocked seats, the film's advance booking gross currently stands at around Rs 41.36 crore.
Karnataka, Yash's home state, is leading Toxic's advance booking charts. The Hindi and Kannada versions are also witnessing a close contest, with the Hindi 2D version slightly ahead at Rs 15.68 crore, compared with Rs 13.02 crore from Kannada 2D.
Premium formats have added further to the film's pre-release business, with Kannada IMAX 2D contributing over Rs 76.43 lakh and Hindi IMAX 2D earning around Rs 40 lakh.
Among the remaining language versions, the Tamil 2D release has contributed Rs 1.15 crore to the advance booking total. Malayalam 2D has followed with Rs 34.29 lakh, while the Telugu 2D version has added Rs 28.26 lakh. The Hindi Dolby Cine format has recorded a further Rs 1.02 lakh.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups marks the grand return of Rocking Star Yash to cinema screens after a four-year gap. The film is set against the backdrop of 1950s–1970s pre-liberation Goa as Portuguese rule weakens. The story follows a man named Raya. He rises rapidly through the city's brutal criminal underworld and drug cartels through violence and betrayal.
The cast boasts a massive ensemble including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. The film is set to release in theatres on August 26.
