Nag Ashwin's latest project, which was tentatively titled 'Project K,' has a new title. It is now called Kalki 2898 AD. The update on the title was shared by Vyjayanthi Movies and the film's lead actor Prabhas on Friday morning and since then it has been the talk of the town. Sharing a teaser of sorts, the makers wrote in the caption, "Project K is now Kalki 2898 AD. Here's a small glimpse into our world." Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has been produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and it is slated to have a big theatrical release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Cast and new collabs
Speaking of the film's stellar cast - it includes Baahubali star Prabhas, superstar Deepika Padukone, film legends Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan. The film also stars Disha Patani. The film marks Deepika Padukone and Prabhas' first collaborative project, while the actress and Amitabh Bachchan have previously co-starred in the 2015 film Piku. They will also feature together in the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film The Intern, which featured Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.
The Comic-Con connection
Besides social media, the film's teaser was released at the grand San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on Friday. The film's lead actor Prabhas, along with co-star Kamal Haasan, is at the Comic-Con. Meanwhile, Rana Daggubati's company Spirit Media is the international marketing and distribution partner of Kalki 2898 AD.
Why Deepika Padukone Is MIA
Deepika Padukone has not been promoting the film of late. The actress hasn't shared the teaser yet and she also skipped her Kalki 2898 - AD duties at the Comic-Con in the wake of Hollywood strike. Deepika Padukone counts as a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (SAG-AFTRA) that is demanding better pay and more protection against artificial intelligence in the industry from film and television studios.
