Our marriage not behind Tere Naal... success: Riteish

Highlights

  • Bollywood's just married duo Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza are happy with the success of their film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. They believe the credit goes to the sheer hard work of the team behind the film and not to the buzz their recent marriage created.
  • Riteish asserts that the excitement around their marriage did not lead to the film's success.
  • "We have done two films together - Tujhe Meri Kasam and Masti. Masti was a commercial success and Tujhe Meri Kasam initially did not do well, but if you ask a trade analyst, you will find that since there was no DVD and satellite rights for the film, it is still being shown in many towns. So, our marriage has no connection to the success of the film (Tere Naal...)," said Riteish.
  • "I would love to give the credit to the makers of the film, the director of the film and the film itself for being nice and hence appreciated," he added.
  • The two tied the knot Feb 3, ahead of the film's release Feb 24.
  • Tere Naal... set the cash registers at the box office ringing, and received a thumbs-up from the critics as well.
  • "This film is special because maybe both of us have grown as actors," Riteish said.
  • He added: "When we meet people, they say that 'you two look very good on screen'. We always feared, what if people do not like us together on screen, because you never know how people will receive your chemistry and it depends on the film as well how the chemistry comes out.
  • "And as Genelia says, that chemistry is written on paper and you never know how it's received by critics. However, we are happy that the film has done well."
  • Riteish is now busy promoting Housefull 2, while Genelia is shooting for Rock the Shaadi and It's my life.
