Dhurandhar 2 has completed two weeks at the box office today with a whopping Rs 1,466.47 crore (gross) worldwide. While a section of the Internet has questioned the politics of the film, a large section of social media users has applauded it for its craftsmanship.

Seasoned actor Mithun Chakraborty recently weighed in on the debate over the film being called 'propaganda'.

Chakraborty brought up the Bengal Files fiasco to reject the propaganda tag on Ranveer Singh's monster hit.

"You did not allow Bengal Files to be released here. What bigger issue will you talk about than this? Yet, you are calling Dhurandhar 2 propaganda. Then why didn't you stop Dhurandhar 2 as well? It was released, and now you are calling it propaganda. But you didn't even watch a single reel of Bengal Files. From the very beginning, you opposed it and did not allow the film to be released in Bengal. What could be more unfortunate than this?" Chakraborty told IANS.

Referring to the monstrous business of the film, Chakraborty said, "People from all religions watched the film. Some people watched it 3-4 times. That's why the film has done such big business."

The Bengal Files Fiasco

Vivek Agnihotri's The Bengal Files was not allowed to release in Bengal theatres. While there was no official ban, major single-screen theatres and multiplexes didn't showcase the film in September last year.

The film had sparked a massive political controversy in Bengal, as it allegedly portrayed the Hindu genocide in a distorted manner against the backdrop of the 1946 Calcutta riots.

The film is the third instalment in Vivek Agnihotri's Files trilogy, following the National Award-winning movies The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022).

About Dhurandhar 2

Hrithik Roshan is the sole voice from the Hindi film fraternity who questioned the film's politics in December last year.

After the sequel released last month, actors Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Vijay Deverakonda, Vicky Kaushal, and Kartik Aaryan praised the film on their respective social media handles.

Imtiaz Ali, while talking to the media at IFFD 2026, spoke about Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 and said, "I have not seen Dhurandhar 2 yet, but I know that there are many beautiful things in it. People liked it a lot. I would like to thank them for bringing audiences to theatres, and I hope it continues. I would like to congratulate the Dhurandhar 2 team."

The film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of Dhurandhar within 11 days.
