In Papanasam, Kamal Haasan Has a Secret That Haunts His Family

A still from Papanasam.

New Delhi: The makers of Kamal Haasan's Papanasam released the first trailer of the film which shows him as a loving husband ('king of romance', as his wife, played by Gautami said), a doting father of two daughters and self-made man in a small village.

But Suyambu Lingam (Mr Haasan) has a secret, which he must guard diligently to protect his family from the prying eyes of a police constable played by Kalabhavan Mani.

The film is the official Tamil remake of Malayalam film Drishyam and has been directed by Jeethu Joseph. The thriller film, starring Mohanlal in the lead role was a huge critical and commercial success.

The film has also been made in Hindi (with the same name) featuring Ajay Devgn in lead role and Tabu as his nemesis. The trailer of Drishyam's Hindi version too released recently and had crossed one million views on YouTube in a few days.

In Papanasam, like in the Malayalam and Hindi version of Drishyam the protagonist is a cable operator, who dropped out of school.

Papanasam is scheduled for July 17 release.
