New Delhi:
First, the bad news - no, you're not going to look like
Deepika Padukone even if you do eat like her (because she's a goddess and you are a mere mortal). Now, the good news - eating like her doesn't mean you need to starve yourself into fitness. The 31-year-old star told news agency IANS, "Managing weight is not about giving up food but eating right. This includes a nourishing breakfast and a daily regime of exercise to stay fit. Choose foods that are wholesome and nourishing." Easily managed by the insanely toned Deepika, harder to achieve for the rest of us.
The famously fit Deepika has revealed earlier that she
likes nothing better than home-cooked food and is especially fond of South Indian khaana (she is Coorgi). Some years ago, she answered a food questionnaire for
Firstpost in which she ticked off upma, poha and dosa as her top breakfast choices, dal or rasam for lunch, and fish for dinner. Her food choices may have changed since then (the questionnaire dates from 2011) but these are unlikely to have - she begins her day with a glass of warm water and never eats junk food.
Deepika Padukone is currently in the best shape of her life, having spent much of 2016 working out for her role in
xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage. She was cast as Serena Unger, an
xXx team member, opposite Vin Diesel. On Instagram, her trainer Yasmin Karachiwala posted a series of glimpses of
Deepika's grueling gym sessions:
xXx: The Xander Cage, Deepika Padukone's Hollywood debut, received generally unfavourable reviews but most critics agreed she was the best thing in it. Deepika is now working on director
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, based on the legend of Rani Padmini of Chittor who is supposed to have committed
jauhar to escape the attentions of Alauddin Khilji. She plays the title role opposite Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor as Khilji and Raja Ratan Singh.
