The heat is on, literally. And to beat it, the Trinamool candidate from the Dum Dum seat took a cool dip before campaigning.
On Tuesday, around 4 pm, Sougata Roy arrived suddenly at the Vivekananda swimming pool run by the South Dum Dum Municipality. He was clad in his usual dhoti kurta.
Then before you knew what was happening, Mr Roy slipped into a pair of swimming trunks and dived in.
A bunch of children in the pool were initially taken a little aback when their parents told them they had a celebrity in their midst. But in no time they were racing Mr Roy to the finish.
Mr Roy put up quite a show doing the breast stroke and the back stroke but he really seemed to enjoy splashing about with the kids.
Asked why this sudden plunge, Roy laughed and said, "the water was too tempting." (
