Gujarat RTE Admissions 2026: The first round of admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Gujarat has started today, April 4, 2026. Parents can submit applications for Class 1 admissions until April 17 (12 pm) on the official website - rte.orpgujarat.com.

The RTE Act in Gujarat ensures free admission for children belonging to economically weaker sections and socially disadvantaged groups in private unaided schools.

As per Section 12(1)(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, at least 25% of seats in Class 1 (up to Class 8) are reserved for children from these categories in private schools.

Students admitted under this provision in recognised private primary schools are eligible for financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per year. The amount is transferred by the state government directly to the parents' bank accounts to help cover expenses such as books, footwear, transport, and other academic needs.

To be eligible, the family's annual income must not exceed Rs 6 lakh, and the child must be at least six years old.
