Robbers shoot dead shopkeeper in west Delhi

New Delhi: A 45-year-old man was shot dead when he tried to stop two people from robbing his flour shop on New Delhi on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

Naresh Sharma was shutting his shop in Kamruddin Nagar in Nangloi in west Delhi when two young men barged in with guns, said a police officer. There were three workers in the shop too.

The duo asked Sharma at gun point to open the cupboard containing cash.

When he resisted, one of them shot him in the abdomen. They then took the cash and fled.

Sharma was taken to a hospital but was declared brought dead.

"We have registered a robbery and murder case against unidentified people," Additional Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan told IANS.

He suspected involvement of more than two people in the crime.
