Man jumps before Metro train, dies

New Delhi: A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a metro train in Mayur Vihar station in the capital, police said on Tuesday.

The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. The youth was wearing an amulet of lord Hanuman, and appeared to belong to Maharashtra, police said.

A senior Delhi Police official said the youth entered Mayur Vihar Phase-I metro station around 11.23 am Tuesday and at 11.42 am he jumped on the metro track from Platform number 2.

"The man came under the wheels of a metro train that was coming from Noida and heading towards Akshardham," said the official.

According to the official, he had bought a token of Rs 10 from Mayur Vihar Phase-I metro station before entering the platform area.

"A police team has been constituted to find out details about him," said the official.
