Hair stylist in Delhi killed by paid gay lover and friends: Police

New Delhi: A young hair stylist who was found dead at his south Delhi home last week was allegedly murdered by three of his friends, a senior police official has said. The accused have now been arrested.

Bimal Gurung, who worked at a prominent salon in west Delhi, had invited Nand Kishore (24) and two of his friends - Dalip Sharma (27) and Pradeep Kumar (24) - to his Vasant Vihar residence on the night of September 5. After having food and alcohol, the trio allegedly murdered Gurung and looted his house, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Chhaya Sharma, said.

"One of the accused, Nand Kishore, allegedly had sexual relations with the victim. Gurung paid him money," Sharma added.

The police said they traced the accused after studying Gurung's cell phone records.

"Gurung was net-savvy and was a heavy user of cellphone. There were numbers of calls made on his mobile number from different local phone booths. We traced the owner of the mobile from which he got the last call before his death.

"He told police that three persons borrowed his mobile at Ber Sarai for making an urgent call. The mobile owner identified the three men from the footage of a nearby CCTV camera. Their photographs were then distributed. We got a tip-off on Monday which led to the arrests from RK Puram," the DCP said.

The police arrested Kishore and Sharma first and their interrogation led them to Kumar, who was already in police custody in connection with a vehicle theft case. Kumar and Kishore have already spent three years in jail in connection with a murder case.

"Pradeep Kumar and Nand Kishore were sentenced for three years in a murder case in May 2007. After being released from jail in 2010, they were not able to get enough money for their needs. Hence, they decided to rob Gurung whom Kishore befriended a few months ago," the DCP added.
