Businessman robbed of Rs 15 lakh

New Delhi: Four motorcyclists waylaid a businessman and robbed him of Rs 15 lakh while he was on way to a bank to deposit it while a grocery shop owner was shot at by unidentified men when he resisted their robbery attempts.

While the businessman was targeted in broad daylight in Keerti Nagar this morning, the grocery shopowner was targeted in New Usmanpur last night but managed to thwart their attempts to take away his cash.

Today's incident took place in Keerti Nagar at around 11 am and the victim has been identified as Vikas Khanna (41), who owns a plywood shop.

"He was on his way to deposit the cash at a nearby Indian Overseas bank. He got out of his car to drop his daughter at her tuition centre when the incident took place," a senior police official said.

Four men on two motorcycles stopped them and held him at gunpoint after which they asked him to part with the cash bag, the official said.

The four persons then fled from the spot in their two wheelers.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Last night, 60-year-old grocery shopowner Harish Chandra was shot at by bikers in north-east Delhi's New Usmanpur at around 10 pm when he resisted their robbery attempts.

The victim was returning home when he suffered bullet injuries on his chest.

"He refused to part with his cash bag. The bikers fled the spot after the victim raised an alarm and locals gathered at the spot," the official said.

He was rushed to the nearby GTB hospital where his condition is said to be critical.
