New Delhi: A team of Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is on its way to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's house to deliver lakhs of letters protesting allegedly inflated water and power bills.

The AAP has said that 272 supporters, in four buses, are headed towards the Chief Minister's residence. This comes hours after the police stopped leaders and AAP volunteers who were going to Mrs Dikshit's house in autorickshaws.

The police has said that they will allow 50 people to go to the the Chief Minister's residence but AAP says they are sending 272 people, one representing each ward in Delhi.

The unique protest began from Sundar Nagri area where AAP founder leader Kejriwal's indefinite hunger strike against the allegedly inflated utility bills entered the 10th day.

Mr Kejriwal is not part of the protest march to Mrs Dikshit's house.

AAP spokesperson Aswathi Muralidharan said around six lakh residents of the capital had signed the protest letters.

The protest journey began despite Delhi Police's refusal to allow too many autorickshaws to hit the roads.

"They failed to explain under which law they were prohibiting the autos," Muralidharan said earlier. "If we are stopped, we will protest."

Mr Kejriwal's health is reportedly stable. Doctors said he had lost seven kilograms since he began his fast March 23.
