Arvind Kejriwal Named In Corruption Complaint, Blames PM Modi

Arvind Kejriwal said a special session of the Delhi assembly would be called to discuss police case.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his name was included in a police case regarding alleged illegalities in the Delhi Commission for Women.

"Don't know why my name is in the FIR," the Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor told reporters. "Without the Prime Minister's approval, a Chief Minister's name doesn't comes in an FIR."

Mr Kejriwal remarks came after the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi government slapped a police case against Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal on Monday night over complaints of alleged irregular recruitment.

"What is my role in this?" Mr Kejriwal asked. "My role has not been mentioned even once in the FIR (First Information Report)."

Mr Kejriwal said a special session of the Delhi assembly would be called to discuss the issue.

The complaint against Ms Maliwal was filed by former commission chief and Congress leader Barkha Singh Shukla. Ms Maliwal has denied the accusations.
