Navi Mumbai: Congress, NCP workers clash
Mumbai: There have been clashes between Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers in Navi Mumbai during the civic polls on Sunday.

Police had to resort to lathicharge when workers of the two parties, who are also allies in the Maharashtra government, alleged bogus voting and began pelting stones on each other. Some 25 workers from both parties were taken into custody.

The Congress and the NCP are battling it out for 89 seats in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections. Though the NCP and the Congress are allies in the state government, they do not have an alliance in Navi Mumbai. The Shiv Sena and the BJP have an alliance. The NCP is the ruling party in the Navi Mumbai civic body.
