Mumbai: Hotel staff held for beating waiter

Mumbai: APMC Police have arrested three former workers of hotel Shikara for allegedly assaulting one Mahipalsingh Narendrasingh Bhandari (25), a waiter at the hotel.

The accused have been identified as Rajendrasingh Mangalsingh Karki (21), Rajansingh Jeetahsingh Karki (21) and Prithvisingh Sundersingh Karki (20), police said.

The accused, who worked as waiters at the hotel till a few months back, were sacked due to their misbehaviour, police said. "Even after being sacked, the trio would frequently go to the hotel to meet their friend named Yogesh Rai. The manager of the hotel had instructed everybody in the hotel that no one should entertain the accused and they shouldn't be allowed to enter the hotel," it said. In September, the accused had come to the hotel to meet their friend when Bhandari stopped them from going inside.

On October 1, the accused spotted Bhandari alone outside the hotel and attacked him with a sharp object and fled. "The accused used a knife like object to attack Bhandari. It took more than 20 days for Bhandari to get discharged from hospital. After the complaint was registered, we started hunting for the accused," the official added.

A team of police from APMC Police Station went to Uttarakhand and nabbed the accused from there, confirmed the official adding, further investigations are on.
