JD (U) MLA woos voters with bar girls

Patna: Achieving the upliftment for Dalits may be difficult, but a JD (U) politician certainly wants to make sure he gets their votes.

On Saturday evening, a day before the Maha Dalit rally in Patna, a JD (U) MLA got bar girls at his place to entertain and woo audiences.

Shyam Bahadur Singh organised a dance in his house for Maha Dalits, who had come from his constituency. The MLA even danced with them.

The MLA later apologized and said, "I agree that I have committed a mistake. I am apologising for that. Hang me, punish me or let me go, but I apologise."

Singh, who represents Jiradei--the birth place of the country's first president Rajendra Prasad, was shown on local TV channels gyrating with alleged bar girls and making gestures. (See images)

Taking exception to Singh's action, RJD strongman Lalu Yadav demanded that the JD (U) expel Singh. "His (Singh) action has not only spoilt the image of Bihar but also of politicians," he said.

RJD state national general secretary Ram Kripal Yadav also echoed Lalu's sentiments. "Chief Minister Nitish Kumar must have seen what is happening in his regime of good governance with social justice," he said, adding that the matter would be raised by RJD MLAs during the assembly session commencing on Monday.

It is a huge embarrassment for party chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is leading the Maha Dalit rally in Patna on Sunday.
