Doctor hit by van carrying liquor

Ahmedabad: While the Satellite police were yawning on Thursday morning after a busy night in this festive season, a rather strange incident roused them from their slumber -- a doctor's car was hit by a hotel pantry car carrying desi liquor!

The car in which Dr Harshad Parikh, a resident of Luv-Kush Society near Shyamal crossroads, was on his way to a park for his morning walk, was struck by a speeding pantry car that apparently belonged to some hotel.

The Satellite police said that the accident took place at Sainik petrol pump at 6 am. Parikh sustained injuries on his face.

According to eyewitnesses, soon after the accident, the driver of the van fled from the spot. However, when police arrived at the scene and checked the pantry car, they found around 100 litres of country liquor in pouches in the vehicle.

"The doctor's condition is stable. We have seized the car and lodged a case against the driver," said a police source.
