Chandigarh hit-and-run: One girl surrenders, other missing

Chandigarh: She was last seen by a man who watched her climb out of a Honda Accord with her friend after hitting a motorcycle. Both girls flagged down a passing car for a lift and disappeared into the Chandigarh night.

They left behind a young man and a five-year-old child, knocked off their motorcycle.  Both died while they were being taken to hospital.

Now, Amanat Brar has turned herself in at a police station.  Her uncle tells NDTV that both her family and she are very sorry for what happened and are willing to do whatever's required to make amends.

he Honda that caused the accident is owned by Amanat's father,  BS Brar, a colonel in the army.  In the morning, he said that the car was taken last night by his driver.

Navdeep Singh's 21-year-old old brother, Sarabjit, died in the accident. 

"It is my request that the culprits should not go scot free," he says.

 The police spent all day hunting for Amanant and her friend.
