5 Strong Remarks from Government to Pakistan Over Ceasefire Violations
New Delhi: India has used strong words to warn Pakistan on its unabated cross-border attacks in violation of their ceasefire. This week has seen the worst violence in over a decade at the border in Kashmir.

India's tough message in 5 quotes:

  1. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said today, "Pakistan in these attacks has clearly been the aggressor but it must realise that our deterrence will be credible. If Pakistan persists with this adventurism, our forces will make the cost of this adventurism unaffordable."

  2. He also said, "India is a responsible state. It is never an aggressor, but at the same time it has a paramount duty to defend its people and its territory. Our armed forces, particularly the Army and the BSF (Border Security Force) in this case, have only one option and that is to respond adequately and defend our territory and our people. Our forces have been doing a commendable job in the face of these unprovoked acts of aggression by Pakistan.

  3. India's strong message has reached Pakistan and will continue to do so if it persists with firing and shelling, Mr Jaitley said, adding, "Pakistan has to stop this unprovoked firing and shelling. As long as that continues how can there be peace."

  4. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "The Prime Minster is monitoring the India-Pakistan situation very closely. We are satisfied with the response of the Army and Border Security Force. We want to assure the nation we will not let it down." He said the "Army and BSF personnel are giving a fitting reply."

  5. Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, who is also the chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, said yesterday, "The issue is quite serious and it should not happen. The government is taking it seriously and we want a quick resolution of the problem. We want peace and tranquillity and want the borders to be normal."
