Man sentenced for impregnating minor
Bangalore, Harohalli: A fast track court in Harohalli sentenced a 25-year-old man to seven years imprisonment for impregnating a minor girl after promising to marry her.

Suresh alias Gurumurthy lured his 15-year-old high school neighbor with the promise of marriage and sexually exploited her.

The girl became pregnant and informed the accused, following which he said that he would marry her after she delivered the baby. Even after she delivered, Suresh refused to marry her claiming that the baby was not his.

The victim was taken out of school and her parents were looking after her and her baby.

After repeated requests to the accused to keep his promise failed to have effect, the matter was then taken to the panchayat, where the accused challenged the heads to prove his involvement.

Based on a complaint filed at Harohalli police station, Inspector T Mahadev detained the accused and had a DNA test conducted.

Though the test results proved that he was the father of the child, he still refused to marry the girl and was arrested.

After the police filed a charge sheet, the Fast-Track Court-3 convicted him and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 35,000.
