The Indian two-wheeler market has recently witnessed a surge in demand for adventure motorcycles, with riders increasingly opting for this segment. Several manufacturers have already introduced new models, the latest being the TVS Apache RTX 300. However, the excitement doesn't end there as January 2026 is set to bring more action, as two fresh adventure motorcycles are lined up for their Indian debut.
KTM 390 Adventure R
KTM is gearing up to launch a more off-road-focused version of its popular adventure motorcycle, the KTM 390 Adventure R, in India. As reported by Bikewale, the model will make its official debut in January 2026, coinciding with the India Bike Week. Designed to meet the rising demand for tougher off-road machines, the Adventure R variant offers improved suspension travel of 230 mm and higher ground clearance compared to the standard 390 Adventure, enhancing its capability on challenging terrain.
At its core, the KTM 390 Adventure R is powered by the brand's 399 cc single-cylinder LC4c engine, delivering 45.2 hp and 39 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and supported by a slipper clutch, ensuring smoother gear shifts and better control. Together, these upgrades make the Adventure R a compelling option for riders seeking a more rugged and performance-driven adventure motorcycle.
Talking about the underpinnings, the KTM 390 Adventure R features a 21-inch front wheel paired with an 18-inch rear, compared to the standard model's 21-inch front and 17-inch rear setup. Its suspension travel has been extended to 230 mm from 200 mm, boosting ground clearance to 272 mm against the standard's 232 mm. This upgrade also raises the seat height to 870 mm, up from 830 mm. Designed for riders seeking added equipment and off-road capability, the Adventure R delivers more performance despite its taller stance.
