A test mule of the Triumph Speed T4 has been spotted undergoing tests on Indian roads. This is likely a 350 cc engine version of the roadster for the Indian market. At first glance, the prototype appears identical to the current Speed T4, with no visible changes to styling, cycle parts, or equipment, suggesting that the update is largely mechanical rather than cosmetic.

This strong visual similarity points to the likelihood that Triumph is testing a downsized 350 cc variant of its existing 400 cc-platform motor. The brand has already confirmed that it is developing a 350 cc engine for India, aimed at bringing several models under the 350 cc GST threshold and reducing the effective tax rate from 40 per cent to 18 per cent.

Going below 400 cc is expected to let Triumph price the Speed-based models more competitively against rivals such as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Honda CB350 RS.

The current Speed T4 draws power from a 398.15 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine that produces around 31 hp and 36 Nm of torque. The 350 cc version is expected to deliver slightly lower peak output but retain the same polished character and mid-range tractability that have made the Speed 400-based family popular.

The brand is also expected to keep the chassis, suspension, brakes, and styling largely unchanged. This way, Triumph can minimise development costs while still offering a premium-looking product in the mid-capacity segment.

Triumph and Bajaj will likely launch the new 350 cc range, led by models such as the Speed T4, Speed 350, and Scrambler 350 X in India in April 2026. The Speed T4-based 350 is expected to slot beneath the existing 400 cc versions, potentially undercutting them by roughly Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 after the revised tax structure. With the test mules already on the road, the formal unveiling of Triumph's 350 cc family seems to be just weeks away.
