Toyota has unveiled the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its first all-electric SUV for the Indian market. Positioned as the sibling to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the Ebella marks the joint entry of Toyota and Maruti Suzuki into the mid-size electric SUV segment. While details of the e-Vitara have already been explored, the reveal of the Ebella has sparked curiosity about how the two models compare. With shared foundations but distinct brand identities, buyers are keen to understand the key differences and similarities between the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara in this emerging EV space.

Front

The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara distinguishes itself at the front with bold Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and a heavily cladded bumper, complete with fog lamps. In contrast, Toyota's Urban Cruiser Ebella features sleeker, segmented DRLs and a cleaner, more refined bumper design, omitting fog lights altogether. From the side, both SUVs share nearly identical styling cues, such as aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, flush door handles integrated into the C-pillar, and pronounced cladding along the doors and wheel arches. The only notable difference is the Ebella's 'BEV' badge, highlighting its battery-electric identity.

Rear

The rear styling of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella sees only subtle revisions, with a mildly altered tail-light signature, while the sloping roofline and robust bumper design remain unchanged. While the e-Vitara is equipped with a tri-LED pattern and a connected light bar, the Ebella gets segmented dot patterns.

Dimensions

When compared to the UK-spec e-Vitara, the Ebella measures 10 mm longer but stands 5 mm shorter in height. Toyota India will equip its electric SUV exclusively with 18-inch alloy wheels. Despite these differences, both models share the same 2,700mm wheelbase, ensuring similar proportions and cabin space.

Features

While both cars have subtle changes on the outside, the Ebella will carry the same list of features as offered by the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. On the inside, both the electric SUVs will get a two-spoke steering wheel, a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch instrument pane and more.

Battery And Powertrain

The Urban Cruiser Ebella and the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will get a choice between 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs, both paired with a front-wheel-drive electric motor delivering different power outputs. Similar to the Ebella, the e-Vitara is expected to provide a claimed 440 km range on a single charge with the smaller battery option. Meanwhile, Ebella's larger battery pack claims 543 km of range on a single charge.
