Toyota Kirloskar Motor has issued a recall for certain units of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder sold in the Indian market. The campaign covers 11,529 SUVs manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. It addresses an issue with the instrument cluster, which may have a faulty fuel gauge. This comes right after the SUV's rebadged version, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, has been recalled for a similar issue.
"In certain conditions, the fuel gauge may not indicate the correct fuel level in the tank. As a result, even when the fuel level in the tank falls below the designed threshold, the low fuel level warning lamp may not glow. In this condition, the driver will not be alerted about the low fuel level, hence the engine may stop/stall due to a no-fuel condition," according to the Voluntary Recall Information section on the website of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
