- Wear sunglasses to reduce glare and eye strain during harsh summer sun conditions
- Keep your windshield clean to avoid sunray reflections and improve driving visibility
- Use car sun visors at dawn and dusk to block direct sunlight and enhance road visibility
The National Highway Authority of India is constantly working to keep the highways across the country safe, reliable, and active. Another task the authority has taken up is to share better driving tips with drivers and riders. As the country is dealing with the heatwave and increasing temperature, it becomes tough to deal with summer glare and heat when driving on long dark patches of tarmac. Being concerned, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has shared summer neat tips on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Wear Sunglasses
Now it might just sound like a plain-jane vanilla suggestion, but it indeed is an important one. In the summer, when the sun is harsh, you have to deal with a lot of glare from all sorts of shiny surfaces. Depending on the time of the day, it could be even from the car ahead of you, the guard rails, or even your own windscreen. Sunglasses are also an effective solution to deal with the mirage effect on the road, and they also reduce the stress on your eyes.

Clean Windshield
Another suggestion, shared by NHAI, is to keep your windshield clean. Yes, it indeed is helpful. As the windshield accumulates dirt or water drop marks, they tend to reflect or refract sun rays, and at times, it could be directly onto your face. Therefore, keeping the windshield clean can help you reduce sunglasses significantly.

Use Sun Visors
At the time of dusk or dawn, the sun is roughly in your line of vision, making it tough to see ahead. In such a case, sun visors provided in the car come in handy. They block the direct sunlight to a great extent, thereby reducing the summer glare.
