- Tata Motors plans a major product expansion in India over the next two years
- The Sierra EV will launch in mid-2026 with dual battery options and AWD variants
- Tiago EV facelift will offer updated styling, features, and possibly a larger battery
Tata Motors is preparing an aggressive product expansion for India over the next two years, with a mix of electric SUVs, hatchback facelifts, and premium next-generation EVs. From the much-awaited Sierra EV and Safari EV to refreshed Tiago twins and the futuristic Avinya, the brand's roadmap through 2027 looks focused on technology, range, and wider segment coverage.
Tata Sierra EV
The all-electric Sierra is shaping up to be one of Tata's most awaited launches for 2026 and is likely to arrive around May next year. It is expected to slot below the Harrier EV in Tata's growing electric SUV range. While the SUV is likely to retain the retro-modern proportions and overall silhouette of the ICE Sierra, the EV version should stand apart with a closed grille, split headlamp setup, and a full-width LED light bar.

Tata is expected to offer two battery pack choices, catering to both regular urban buyers and those seeking better long-distance usability. Higher variants could feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout, promising improved traction and stronger performance. Another big talking point may be the Battery-as-a-Service ownership model, which could help reduce the upfront purchase price. Inside, the cabin is expected to closely resemble the standard Sierra, with dual screens in lower trims and a triple-screen layout in top-spec versions, adding to its premium positioning.
Tata Tiago EV Facelift
The other upcoming Tata car is the refreshed Tiago EV, expected to bring a meaningful styling and equipment update to Tata's entry-level electric hatchback. Spy images indicate reworked LED headlamps, slimmer DRLs, a redesigned front fascia, and a more sculpted bumper design. Tata may also add aero-efficient alloy wheels and revised tail-lamp detailing to improve both looks and efficiency.

Inside, the focus is likely to shift towards better material quality and a more modern feature set. Expected upgrades include a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, full-digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, and connected car enhancements. Convenience and safety may also improve with features such as a 360-degree camera and improved parking assist systems. Mechanically, the existing battery options are likely to continue, although Tata may also introduce the larger 30 kWh battery pack from the Punch EV, which would significantly improve real-world range and practicality.

Tata Tiago Facelift
The petrol-powered Tiago facelift is also expected to borrow several styling cues from the EV facelift version. Under the hood, it is likely to continue with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, alongside the CNG option, with both manual and AMT gearbox choices continuing.
There is also speculation that Tata may introduce a new turbo-petrol engine option, similar to updates seen on some of its newer models, although official confirmation is still awaited.

Tata Safari EV
Tata Motors is expected to introduce its first three-row electric SUV around the 2026 festive season. The Safari EV will become the brand's first 7-seater EV and is expected to rival the Mahindra XEV 9S.
Reports suggest that the upcoming electric seven seater could use the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options as the Harrier EV, with the larger pack likely paired to a dual-motor AWD setup. However, given the Safari's larger size and added weight, the overall driving range may be slightly lower than the Harrier EV.
Tata Avinya
The Tata Avinya will mark Tata's major push into the premium electric mobility space and is expected to arrive by late 2026 or sometime in 2027. Unlike Tata's current EVs, this will be developed as a standalone premium product with its own sales and ownership ecosystem.

The production model of the upcoming Tata Avinya is likely to stay very close to the concept, featuring its cab-forward stance, short overhangs, and lounge-inspired spacious cabin design. Tata is expected to use a large 80 kWh battery pack, which should enable strong real-world range and refined long-distance cruising.
