Tata Motors is yet to announce the prices of the petrol-powered versions of the Safari and Harrier SUVs. Before the confirmation on price, both the SUVs have received a five-star safety rating by Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), the same as their diesel counterparts.
The Harrier and Safari were among the first models to be evaluated by Bharat NCAP in December 2023, shortly after receiving their facelifts in September 2023. In those crash tests, both SUVs achieved 5-star ratings with high individual scores. With the latest update, the petrol versions will also be covered under the same safety rating framework, as their structural safety and restraint systems are similar to those of the previously tested models.

During the 2023 Bharat NCAP assessment, the Harrier and Safari scored 30.08 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP). For Child Occupant Protection (COP), both SUVs achieved 44.54 out of 49 points. These scores will now apply to the petrol iterations as well, indicating that the change in powertrain does not affect the tested safety performance.
Standard safety equipment on both models includes six airbags, with seven airbags offered on higher trims. Electronic stability control, three-point seatbelts for every seating position, and seat belt reminders for all occupants are also part of the package. ISOFIX child seat mounts are provided, and the seatbelts feature a retractor, pretensioner, load limiter, and anchor pretensioner as standard.

On the higher variants, Tata offers Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on the Harrier and Safari. The suite comprises over 20 features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning, and High Beam Assist. These systems use camera and radar inputs to support the driver and help in avoiding or reducing the severity of potential collisions.

Until now, the Harrier and Safari have been available only with a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. With the update, both SUVs will also be offered with a 1.5-litre TGDI turbo petrol engine delivering 168 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. Both powertrains can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
