- Royal Enfield is developing a new Scram 450 scrambler motorcycle based on the Sherpa engine
- The bike will feature a 452 cc single-cylinder engine with around 40 hp and 40 Nm torque
- It will have a revised frame, USD front forks, a monoshock rear, and a new design with circular headlamp
Royal Enfield is reportedly working on the development of a new scrambler motorcycle based on the Sherpa engine. This is the same platform that the brand uses for the Himalayan 450 adventure tourer and Guerrilla 450 roadster. Reports suggest that the new model will be called Scram 450. The name seems to be in sync with the manufacturer's nomenclature used for other motorcycles based on the same platform.
The details of the motorcycle are still scarce. However, based on the 452 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, called Sherpa, the bike is expected to have an output of 40 hp and 40 Nm. The power will be transferred to the wheels using a six-speed transmission. The engine will likely be housed in a revised frame compared to the siblings. It is expected to be better suited for the body style.
The motorcycle is also expected to have a completely new design. However, we can expect a few details to remain common, such as the presence of a circular headlamp, a slim tail section, and a fuel tank similar to what the brand offers on the Guerrilla. It is also expected to have slightly raised handlebars and an upright seating position, something probably similar to the Bear 650.

A report by Autocar India suggests that the Scram 450 will use USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear end. The travel of these units is not known. However, it will likely be less than what the manufacturer offers on the Himalayan 450. The speculation comes from the pattern the brand followed with the Scram 411.

Talking about the features, the Royal Enfield Scram 450 is expected to have something very similar to its siblings. It will likely have the circular TFT display, which offers navigation features through phone connectivity. Additionally, the machine is expected to have different ride modes, a slip and assist clutch, among other things.
Once launched, the Royal Enfield Scram 450 will find itself fighting against the Triumph Scrambler 400 for the consumers' attention. As far as pricing is concerned, expect it to have a number between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh.
