Renault India recently launched the Duster in the Indian market, bringing back the popular nameplate after a hiatus. The SUV was launched at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). At the time, the brand revealed all the details of the SUV except fuel efficiency. The brand has revealed the number, but only for the turbo petrol engine offered with the SUV.
Renault Duster Mileage
The Turbo TCe 160 engine of the Renault Duster is claimed to offer a mileage of 18.45 kmpl with the DCT automatic transmission and 17.75 kmpl with the 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit is tuned to produce 163 hp of power and 280 Nm of torque, giving it space among the most powerful models in its segment.

The updated Duster can be equipped with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 100 hp and 160 Nm, and it comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, Renault plans to launch a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine by Diwali 2026. This powertrain merges a 109 hp petrol engine with a 49 hp electric motor and a 20 hp hybrid starter generator, backed by a 1.4 kWh battery. The overall system output is rated at 160 hp and 172 Nm.

Tata Sierra Mileage
Although Tata Motors has yet to disclose the mileage figures for the Sierra, an RTI response obtained from ARAI, shared by Vahan Warta on X, indicates that the 1.5L TGDi Hyperion petrol engine achieves a fuel efficiency of 13.5 kmpl, while the 1.5L Kryojet diesel engine offers 18.8 kmpl. It is important to note that the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol variant has not yet received ARAI certification. The diesel engine received its ARAI certification on November 21, 2025, whereas the turbo petrol engine was certified on December 11, 2025, both around the Sierra's launch timeframe.
Mid-Size SUV Segment
The Tata Sierra is currently sold at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and is a competitor of the Duster. Both serve up nostalgia in a modernised package and face competition from models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Honda Elevate, and others in India.
