Price Hike Season Begins; BYD Sealion 7 Electric SUV Gets Dearer By Rs 50,000

BYD India, the subsidiary of the Chinese giant BYD, has announced a price revision for its electric SUV in the domestic market. Effective from January 1, 2026, the Sealion 7 Premium variant is now dearer by Rs 50,000. Meanwhile, the Performant variant of the electric SUV will continue to be sold at the same price. As per the automaker, the bookings made on or before December 31, 2025, will be processed at the existing prices.

After the adjustment on January 1, the BYD Sealion 7 Premium model featuring an 82.56 kWh battery will now cost Rs 49,40,000, a rise from its previous price of Rs 48,90,000. Meanwhile, the Sealion 7 Performance model will continue to be priced at Rs 54,90,000. This is a significant move by the automaker because it is one of the prominent models in its lineup. Since its launch in the country, the SUV has registered sales of 2,300 units across the nation.

The BYD Sealion 7 features the company's Cell-to-Body design and Blade Battery technology. Both versions are equipped with an 82.56 kWh battery and have received a 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating. The Performance depends on 522 hp of power and 690 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds. The Premium version generates 308 hp and 380 Nm, completing the 0-100 kmph sprint in 6.7 seconds. These vehicles boast a certified range of up to 567 km according to the NEDC cycle.

The feature set of the Sealion 7 includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen that rotates, Nappa leather seating, panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, and a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system.

Meanwhile, the list of safety features includes 11 airbags, monitoring for driver fatigue, and advanced driver assistance technologies. One of its notable features is the Vehicle to Load (VTOL) capability, which allows the SUV to function as a mobile power station, capable of supplying power to external devices, thereby enhancing its luxurious appeal with practical utility.
