Nissan India has postponed the debut of the Tekton SUV, with the new unveiling dates yet to be confirmed. This decision follows the delay in the launch of the Triber. It's important to note that both upcoming models will mark the automaker's entry into a new segment, playing a significant role in their strategy to expand their presence in the country.

Nissan Tekton, when launched, will represent the automaker in an arena where it will compete against its sibling, the Renault Duster, and some of the best-sellers like Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and others. Furthermore, it is part of the brand's strategy to improve its presence in the country.

The side profile of the vehicle consists of pull-type door handles for front doors and C-pillar-mounted ones for the rear end. It also gets roof rails and multi-spoke alloy wheels. All-in-all, it is reminiscent of the recently unveiled Renault Duster, which shares its platform with the Tekton.

On the inside, the Nissan Tekton will get a three-tone dashboard with a glossy black finish and a prominent bronze-coloured strip running from the central touchscreen to the side AC vents. It is likely to come packed with features such as a wireless charger, automatic climate control, and a sunroof.

Although the specifics regarding the engine and transmission options for the Tekton have not yet been officially announced, it is anticipated to feature a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine; the lower variants may come with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is currently utilized in the Nissan Magnite. There might also be a hybrid powertrain. Options for both manual and automatic transmissions are expected to be available.

With all of this, the Nissan Tekton will likely have a starting price between Rs 10-11 lakh. With this competitive pricing, the SUV will likely be able to make its place in a market full of strong competitors.
