After being spotted on test runs across Europe, the KTM 790 Duke has now appeared in its production-ready form. The confirmation comes through Chinese type-approval documents, giving the clearest look yet at the refreshed middleweight naked motorcycle ahead of its expected global launch later in 2026.

With the larger 990 Duke already introduced internationally, there was speculation that KTM might discontinue the 790. However, the documents suggest otherwise. The 790 Duke continues to serve a different segment of riders, and KTM has updated its 799cc LC8c parallel-twin engine to comply with newer emission standards, effectively extending the model's lifecycle.

The motorcycle adopts KTM's latest design approach. The headlamp unit now features a single-projector LED surrounded by split daytime running lights, distinct from the dual-projector setup seen on the 990 Duke. The fuel tank and side panels have been redesigned with sharper lines, giving the bike a more angular profile.

Mechanically, the frame and WP suspension appear unchanged, but braking hardware has shifted to WP-supplied callipers, replacing the earlier J.Juan units. The TFT instrument console remains similar to the current version, while the mirrors resemble those used on the 990 Duke.

According to the approval details, the 2027 model produces 95 PS and 87 Nm, with a kerb weight of 185 kg. Production continues in China through KTM's joint venture with CFMoto, which explains the early certification there and the 'KTMR2R' branding visible on the tank.

While the documents confirm the bike's specifications, KTM has not yet announced the exact markets where the updated 790 Duke will be sold. It remains unclear whether the model will return to India, where it previously had a presence.
