Kia Syros EV

Kia India launched the Syros SUV in the Indian market in February 2025. The brand now plans to introduce an electric powertrain version of this SUV, which will expand its range of electric vehicles (EVs) available in India. Although there has been no official announcement from the South Korean manufacturer yet, NDTV Automate recently spotted the electric version of the SUV undergoing testing in the Delhi NCR area, providing a glimpse of the upcoming model.

Kia Syros EV: Design

Based on the spy shot, the camouflage-covered Kia Syros EV seems to have a design very similar to its ICE counterparts. It also reveals the charging port present on the front fender of the SUV. This represents a different approach to the brand compared to the Carens Clavis EV, which had a nose-mounted port. Previous spy shots hinted that the vehicle might have a similar charging on the other side, as well.

Although the design elements are largely consistent with the ICE version, a few modifications can be observed. Taking a closer look, it seems that both ends are fitted with disc brakes and aerodynamic alloy wheels. The test vehicle also seems to come with front and rear parking sensors, suggesting the inclusion of an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package.

Kia Syros EV: Interior

While we didn't get a clear look at the interior layout, it should closely resemble that of the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant. However, based on the visible steering, the SUV will likely have a dual-tone interior. It will function on enhanced EV-specific software for the displays and may feature different materials and seating options as well. The array of features is anticipated to stay the same.

Kia Syros EV: Powertrain

The Kia Syros EV will likely be built on the K1 platform, which serves as the base for models like the Hyundai Casper, Inster, and Exter available in other markets. This indicates that the electric Syros will operate with a front-wheel drive setup. It could utilize the battery packs from the Hyundai Inster, which include options of 42 kWh and 49 kWh. In Hyundai's case, these batteries are said to offer driving ranges of 300 km and 355 km, respectively. However, the currently available Clavis EV features 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery variants. This is similar to what Hyundai offers on the Creta Electric, resulting in a range of 420 km and 510 km, respectively.
