Mercedes-Benz has confirmed plans to broaden its Mercedes-Maybach portfolio with a new flagship model, the Mercedes-Maybach VLS. Announced alongside the reveal of the updated S-Class Maybach, this "Grand Limousine" marks the brand's entry into the ultra-luxury MPV segment. The vehicle will sit at the top of the VLS lineup and become the first Maybach-badged MPV, sharing the Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) platform with the recently launched all-electric Mercedes VLE.
The Mercedes-Maybach VLS will be offered solely as a pure-electric vehicle (EV), distinguishing it from the standard VLS, which enters production by late 2026. Maybach VLS production is slated to begin in 2027, positioning it above models like the Maybach S-Class and GLS in Mercedes' luxury hierarchy. Previewed by the Vision V concept, it targets premium buyers seeking spacious, high-end people carriers, amid rising demand for luxury MPVs in markets including India.

Premium MPVs have gained traction globally due to their superior space and comfort features. In India, vehicles like the Toyota Vellfire have found takers, while the Lexus LM stands as the direct rival to the Maybach VLS.

Mercedes recently reintroduced the V-Class here, expanding its MPV offerings that now include the VLE and upcoming VLS. This move reflects the brand's strategy to cater to affluent families and executives prioritising rear-seat luxury.
Designed primarily for rear passengers, the Maybach VLS promises a "welcome home feeling" with configurations like opposing captain seats or forward-facing individual seats. Expected amenities draw from the Vision V concept, including a retractable 65-inch 4K rear cinema screen with split-screen mode, a 42-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system, Nappa leather, burr wood trim, and music-synced ambient lighting. These elements underscore Mercedes-Maybach's commitment to opulent onboard experiences.
