Mercedes-Benz had earlier showcased the Vision V Concept; now, the brand has unveiled the vehicle spawned from the model called the VLE. Placed below the VLS in the automaker's lineup, the all-electric vehicle will be launched later this year. It will get long-wheelbase and standard options. Offering options to the consumers, the automaker will sell AMG Line, AMG Line Plus and Exclusive versions.
Mercedes-Benz VLE: Design
The Mercedes-Benz VLE brings an aerodynamic shape to the table with a drag coefficient of 0.25Cd. This is complemented by the presence of a long front overhang, smooth roofline, and a rounded rear with a streamlined look. The front end of the vehicle features a massive grille with an illuminated frame. There's also a light strip that connects the headlight, which consists of star-shaped DRLs. On the side, the vehicle gets electric sliding doors with options of 19 and 22-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the rear gets an inverted U-shaped light covering the width of the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz offers three options for rear seating: a manually adjustable Comfort Seat, an electrically adjustable Premium Comfort Seat, and the Grand Comfort Seat.

The Grand Comfort Seat, which is the highest specification, includes a pillow, a wireless charger, lumbar support, and a massage feature. A massive 31.3-inch 8K retractable display can be neatly tucked away into the roof liner when not in use, while the dashboard showcases the Superscreen, which integrates a 10.25-inch driver's display, a 14-inch touchscreen, and a 14-inch passenger screen spanning the full width of the cabin.

The VLE is also equipped to receive over-the-air updates and features a powerful 750-watt, 22-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, alongside a panoramic glass roof. The centre console has a compartment designed to maintain the temperature of beverages, whether hot or cold, and even includes a UV disinfection system, while the electric seats can be adjusted through the touchscreen or a smartphone application. For driver assistance and safety, the VLE utilizes 10 cameras, five radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
Mercedes-Benz VLE: Powertrain
The VLE marks the debut of Mercedes' new VAN.EA platform, which will serve as the foundation for the brand's upcoming electric MPVs, including the VLS. The first variant in this lineup will be the VLE 300, generating 276 hp and boasting a claimed range of over 700 km (WLTP). It is powered by a substantial 115 kWh NMC battery and operates on an 800V electrical system, allowing a range addition of 320 km in just 15 minutes.
Following that will be the more powerful VLE 400, equipped with all-wheel drive, delivering 415 hp and achieving a 0-100 kmph acceleration in 6.5 seconds. Models featuring smaller 80 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate batteries are anticipated to be introduced later, along with combustion-engine variants based on the VAN.CA platform in the future.
