Mahindra recently released a teaser for the Thar Roxx, hinting at a special edition of the SUV. Although the teaser did not disclose many details, the vehicle has begun arriving at dealerships as preparations for its launch continue. Recent photos taken at a dealer's yard reveal details about the special edition, confirming that it will be called the Thar Roxx Star Edition and will be based on the top-end AX7 L trim.

Based on the visuals, the Mahindra Thar Roxx Star Edition focuses on aesthetic changes while keeping the rest of the details the same. To begin with, there is an elaborate use of black elements on multiple parts. The standout element is the black alloy wheel replacing the dual-tone version with a metallic finish on the standard top-end variant. This is complemented by black paint.

Meanwhile, the other exterior elements, including the grille, bumper, and lighting setup, remain unchanged. To mark the special edition version, the brand has added a Star Edition badge towards the rear end of the SUV. It features a similar font and style to the Thar Roxx badge seen on the SUV.

Step on the inside and the black theme continues with a black dashboard and leatherette upholstery. However, the beige roof liner and parts of the beige door panels have been retained from the standard version, creating a dual-tone effect. Even then, it is significantly different from the Ivory White and Mocha Brown interiors offered on the standard version. Meanwhile, the feature list is expected to be the same as the standard version.

Mechanically, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to remain unchanged. It will continue to have either the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine or the 2.2-litre diesel engine. These units come paired with a manual or an automatic transmission. The diesel engine gets the option of a 4x4 system, making the SUV capable of dominating off-road terrain.
