Geely Auto Group unveiled the Geely Safety Centre in December 2025, which was claimed to be the most advanced automotive safety testing facility. The car safety test center has achieved five new world records, earning it more space in the Guinness World Records. It is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang, a city in eastern China, and is capable of conducting 27 types of tests.

Geely's Five World Records

Built with an investment of 284 million USD, the world's largest automotive safety laboratory holds records for the longest indoor car crash test track, the largest altitude-climate wind tunnel facility for car testing, the largest arbitrary-angle (0-180 degree) car crash test zone, and the most tests available in an automaker's safety test laboratory.

The longest indoor car crash test track has a length of 293.39 m, and the width of the track is between 8.46 m and 9.03 m. The second record is for the largest altitude-climate wind tunnel facility for car testing, with an area of 28,536.224 sq.m. It is spread across three floors, among these the first floor of the wind tunnel facility measures 9,760.969 sq.m., the second floor 10,347.977 sq.m., and the 3rd floor 8,427.278 sq.m. It is capable of simulating real-road natural environments, including extreme temperatures and high altitudes.

The largest arbitrary-angle car crash test zone measures 12,709.293 sq.m. and is capable of conducting crash tests at any angle from 0 to 180 degrees, which can be achieved through a continuously adjustable track with an angle range of 0 to 180 degrees. Additionally, the 27 tests that achieved the record of the most tests available in an automaker's safety test laboratory include 11 vehicle-level tests, 7 system-level tests, 3 component-level tests, and 6 functional-level tests.

More Safety Tests

Geely has developed a series of 60 crash test dummies, backed by an investment of approximately 28.35 million USD, which represent various genders and age demographics. These dummies are used to gather data on parameters such as acceleration, displacement, and force during a collision, allowing for the accurate collection of crash metrics and the evaluation of safety measures.

In response to growing concerns about the safety of intelligent new energy vehicles, Geely's vehicle cybersecurity test facility conducts security assessments across a wide range of information, focusing on eight categories, including network security, vulnerability analysis, and AI safety.
