Mahindra Thar is on sale in its second-generation format, and the generation change came with increased versatility and ease of driving. Of course, the butchness and 4x4 capabilities evolved for the better. With these changes, the Mahindra Thar isn't just restricted to 4x4 aficionados. Car buyers from other segments are also putting their money on it, for the kind of status symbol and road presence it brings to the table. However, numerous instances of rash driving have been observed with this new audience of the Thar. Recently, a video surfaced on the internet showing a Thar owner driving on the wrong side of the road and proudly flexing how other road users are scared of the Thar.
In the video above, the driver is proudly justifying his act of driving on the wrong side of the road because his lane was witnessing a traffic jam. And, to avoid the traffic woe, he decided to drive the Thar on the wrong side of the road, and even flaunted it rather proudly. The video seems to be from Delhi, as a couple of cluster buses can be spotted in the clip. Sadly, this video comes out right after the Delhi Police announced to lodge FIRs against those attempting wrong-side driving.

It is largely because of this attitude on the roads that, earlier, a police official criticised the Thar and people who buy it. Numerous videos of Thar being involved in an accident are live on the internet, where the SUV was driven rashly.

Indeed. With such incidents, the Thar's reputation only takes a hit, for a vehicle that's immensely capable and is built with features to stand tall against global off-roaders. It is powered by a reliable diesel powertrain and a 4x4 architecture, which is one of the best of the best in the business. These incidents not only affect the Thar's rapport adversely, but also put the whole owner community under the radar. Thus, offenders should be punished strictly.
