KTM has announced a second global recall this month, following an earlier one for engine stalling. The latest recall concerns a fault in the side stand assembly and impacts select models from the 390 range. In India, the affected bikes include the KTM 390 Adventure X and 390 Enduro R. Internationally, the recall extends to the 390 Adventure R and 390 SMC R, highlighting KTM's push to address safety issues across markets.

KTM's quality checks revealed that engine vibrations may, in rare cases, cause the side stand spring to snap. The issue is confined to motorcycles fitted with forged side stands and does not impact other designs. While only a handful of incidents have been reported, KTM is adopting a precautionary approach to ensure rider safety. The company has initiated a recall to address the problem and eliminate any potential risks before they escalate.

KTM has asked owners of affected motorcycles to visit authorised service centres, where the side stand spring will be replaced and a rubber protective part fitted. Until the fix is completed, riders are advised to temporarily secure the side stand with a rubber band or similar solution. This precautionary measure ensures safe travel to dealerships while the recall work is pending, reinforcing KTM's focus on rider safety.

As part of the recall process, certain motorcycles will also receive a new side stand sensor retaining plate during their service visit. This update is designed to refine the trigger range of the side stand switch, ensuring improved reliability. Authorised KTM dealers will notify customers if their motorcycle requires this additional step. Owners of affected models will be contacted directly by KTM and advised to reach out to their nearest authorised dealership. All recall-related repairs will be performed free of charge through KTM's official service network.

KTM previously announced a voluntary recall covering the 390 Duke (MY 2024-2026), 390 Enduro R, SMC R, Adventure R, and Adventure X (MY 2025-2026). The affected motorcycles have reported stalling issues at low RPMs. To address the problem, KTM will update the engine control unit (ECU) software across all recalled models, ensuring smoother performance and improved reliability.

Also, the brand issued a recall for its 2024 Duke lineup, including the 125, 250, 390, and 990 models. The recall addresses potential cracking in the fuel tank cap seals. To resolve the issue, KTM will replace the faulty component free of charge, with all repairs carried out exclusively through its authorised dealership network, ensuring rider safety and peace of mind.
